Our Impact

Our work is rooted in the belief that healthy ecosystems support healthy communities, and that every visitor, coworker, resident, and partner has a role to play in caring for the land.

For decades, we've invested in protecting and restoring the natural landscape that makes Greenfield unique. From stream restoration and native meadows to wildlife conservation and environmental education, we're creating spaces where nature and community can thrive together.

As restoration efforts mature, we're seeing increased wildlife activity throughout Greenfield's natural areas, demonstrating the positive impact of intentional habitat stewardship.

We invite you to explore our trails, attend a nature program, or discover the wildlife that calls Greenfield home.

Restoring Natural Habitats

The restoration of Stauffer Run represents one of Greenfield's most significant environmental initiatives. What was once maintained turfgrass is now a thriving three-acre native meadow that improves water quality, reduces stormwater runoff, supports pollinators, and creates habitat for birds and beneficial insects. Native grasses and wildflowers provide critical food and shelter while helping strengthen ecological resilience throughout the corridor.

Caring for Our Watersheds

Healthy streams begin with healthy buffers. Stewardship of Greenfield's natural resources is led by High Associates Property Services, whose teams partner with organizations including the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and Lancaster Conservancy to enhance and protect local ecosystems. Together, they have expanded riparian buffers that protect waterways, reduce erosion, and improve water quality. These natural corridors create important habitat connections for wildlife while helping filter stormwater before it enters local streams. Future monitoring efforts will include water quality testing and aquatic species assessments to help track ecosystem health over time.

Environmental Education for Everyone

Environmental stewardship is strongest when it's shared. Greenfield hosts free public programs throughout the year that help people connect with the natural world through hands-on experiences and outdoor exploration. Programs include: Creek stomps, Meadow walks, Nature journaling, Wetland exploration, Stream ecology programs and Wildlife presentations. These experiences invite visitors of all ages to better understand the ecosystems around them and become active stewards of local natural resources.

Growing a Legacy of Stewardship

Our conservation efforts are made possible through partnerships with organizations that bring expertise, passion, and a shared commitment to protecting the natural world. Working alongside partners such as the Lancaster Conservancy, Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, and other organizations, Greenfield continues to invest in projects that strengthen biodiversity, improve water quality, and create opportunities for people to engage with nature in meaningful ways. We are working toward a future where people and nature flourish together, ensuring that Greenfield remains a place of discovery, connection, and environmental responsibility for generations to come.
